Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SB 180 -- RONALD REAGAN DAY

SPONSOR: Loudon (Cooper, 158)

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Tourism by
a vote of 10 to 4.

This bill requires the Governor to annually issue a proclamation
designating February 6 as "Ronald Reagan Day" in Missouri. The
proclamation must recommend that the day be observed with
appropriate exercises in the public schools so that the memory of
Ronald Reagan's public service and humanitarian principles may be
perpetuated.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2006, FY 2007, and
FY 2008.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill is simply a day of
recognition for President Ronald Reagan. It does not create a
new holiday or a day off for employees.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Loudon.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
